Ambasamuthiram Ambani
An Inspiring Movie of Hope and Victory
Starring: Karunas, Navneet Kaur, Kota Srinivasa Rao, R. Sundarrajan
Direction: Ramanathan
Music: Karunas
Production: John Prieto
The film Ambasamuthiram Ambani is one film that still chose to show the audience of today that to reach success, honesty is still the best policy. It is one film that depicts how a strong will and passion can drive a man to accomplishment and success without having to take advantage of other people or stepping on other people’s toes.
The lead role is carried out by Karunas whose role is about a young man named Dhandapani who dreams of making it big in the busy metro of Chennai. Because of his painful childhood where he lost at very tender age and is followed by the death of his mother who passes away because of a stampede to be able to get free saree, the young lad strives his best to make the most out of his tragic life and works his way to be like the Ambanis.
For every scene in the film, the mellow-dramatic feel is definitely in the air. As the movie runs, the more Karunas takes pride and passion in doing his role. The film would not be as interesting if it were not Karunas’ assistant Shankar who leads the film to be filled with humorous scenes and twists. Ofcourse, it would not be complete if Dhandapani would not have a love interest and this comes in the form of Navneet Kaur.
The film gives a spark of hope to the protagonist when he meets Kota Srinivasa Rao who offers him jobs and lets him save his very own hard-earned money. This is when Dhandapani realizes how much valuable is but what makes this movie interesting is how the lead role of Karunas did not plant in him remorse or anger from what has happened to his mother who lost her life because of the lack of a few sums of rupees. But even so, it makes the storyline typical in a not so gruesome or violent manner which makes the film refreshing to watch most especially of the fact there are no scenes of gangs, drugs or even a cigarette!
The height of the drama arises when Kota Srinivasa Rao, who apparently helped out Karunas make a leap to success when he agreed to let the “dream” shop of Karunas be his if he manages his money, passes away which leaves Karunas shaken and hopeless of making it to success in his unwelcoming future.
Director Ramanathan was able to convey to the audience how success is still achievable with hard work and honesty which is such a cliché in this time and age. But even so, the film is being brought to life because of the conviction of the actors most especially Karunas who even produced the film of Ken Media that his role was very much internalized and the film although archetypal is still able to bring out the theme and moral of the storyline. A good movie for everyone and should leave audiences inspired.
