Ananthapurathu Veedu

Starring: Nandha, Chaya Singh, Master Aryan.
Direction: Naga
Music: Ramesh Krishna
Production: Shankar

The master of thrillers, Naga, has once again made magic come to real life with his latest film Ananthapurathu Veedu. The era of big bucks for films and actors aspiring to go from one country to another with enormous sets and heroes bashing the bad people, Naga was able to capture audiences by keeping this film with in the four corners of an old house giving an eerie feel.

The ever genius director Shankar of S Pictures has made the film making sure it is away from hackneyed commercials preserving the good reputation of the production house. Though the film is themed under horror and thriller, it may surprise you how underneath it all it also tackles about relationships in a family.

Naga went ahead with only a handful of casts and wrote a script appealing in most of its parts. The only problem with the movie is its missing parts that becomes longer and longer in the later part of the movie which fall short on capturing the attention of its watchers.

The story begins with Bala (Nandaa) along with his wife Revathy (Chaya Singh) and their four-year-old kid Anandh (Aryan) to the village of Ananthapuram. The story reveals that the parents of Bala were killed in a mysterious accident. During their stay, they experience baffling occurrences that scares the family. It was Anandh who first notices the unusual activities happening in their home. A twist in the story is being divulged and so with the cause of why Bala and his family takes shelter in their ancestral home. Finally, the cause of those mysterious activities is explained that it is actually the spirits of Bala’s parents who are in the home who only intends to guard them and let them feel loved. They all also sort out the troubles of Bala as everything else ends well.

Naga made sure to cast in actors who are apt for the role that is essential in films like this. Nandaa was able to carry out his role well as a passionate father and a devoted husband which is quite far-fetched from his last role as a villain in the movie Eeram. The role of being a wife with a great fear on closed and tight spaces is done well by Chaya Singh. Master Aryan did also justify his role and impressed the audience. The supporting roles of Kalairani who played as a servant maid, along with Krishna and Ganesh Babu were no less important with their roles. The whole length of the film only had a few songs by Ramesh Krishna. His works on background music complimented well with Arunmani Pazhani’s work which was clearly shown on the camera.

Although the movie’s length can somewhat be considered the drawback of the film, still, the hardwork and passion that Naga placed over the horror film overpowers it all. Naga definitely did well in coming up with a scary film that is frightening in terms of its storyline but did not bore the audiences.
