Horror can be no more stranger in Indian films. Help is one horror flick that stars Bobby Deol. Deol definitely has the talent for acting but not for choosing the right script that fits his heavy acting.

The film Help may seem like a remake of the western movie “Unborn” but it seems that even the movie “Mirrors” has a large impact on the movie as well. It is all about a husband who tries to save his wife from an evil spirit who is not only after his wife but the whole family as well. What to watch out for is to why the evil spirit is set out on them and will they succeed in fighting it?

The fear factor of the movie is there and there are parts of the movie that will really make audiences jump off their seats or scream because the part where the lead casts research on what is behind it all is something that should be watched out for. The hint of direction that is amateur is what gives the film its drawback.

Script wise, the film did great but the poor acting, the shoddy lines and the scenes that are recurring makes it look bad. Not to mention the poor editing and the pointless flash mixtures make the film fall back. But even so the film has its good points too. First off there’s the shots that have been captured in a stylish manner and the troubling but effectual montage of the title. There are really scary parts that will make you want to cover your eyes which does not come out too often in Indian horror movies but do not expect too much from the climax because it’s not really that much of an impact.

What makes the movie great to watch in the big screen is the part where Bobby Deol attempts to fight the spirit with an iron rod. Instead of making it come out scary, the scene where the spirit turns into a zombie that looked like it came out from the 80s era seemed funny.

Most of the scenes are with Bobby Deol’s face which is strange because it is supposed to be a film revolving mostly on Mugdha. In the film, Mugdha seemed to be like all stressed out and Deol is somewhat apathetic. The climax could have been better if Deol showed an expression of horror instead it came out as something that he was passive about. A cameo appearance by Shreyas Talpade was in the film and his acting was okay.

Technically speaking, the film did great in its background score which was done by Shutosh Pathak and the efficient cinematography of Dhimant Vyas showed parts that were sloppy but the special effects in some of the shots were great.

In general, the movie is able to give out that fear factor to those who are into the genre of horror flicks but for movie goers this would be something that will only disappoint them because though there are genuinely scary parts there is still something missing in the film.
