We may be well aware that Boopathy Pandian’s craft are films loaded with action and comedy like his films ‘Devathaiyai Kanden’, ‘Thiruvilayadal Aarambam’, ‘Malaikottai’. But he takes on a different path this time as he chooses to take on Kadhal Solla Vanthen which is one romantic yet pleasing film. Not only did he direct the film but also penned it.
The film is about a young man’s frantic love for this one girl. It may start off as too commercialized as it is set out on a college campus but because of the series of twists of events everything else fall out on a fascinating turn. Everybody adores watching movies themed on love stories. This is why the director made sure to keep the movie close to this theme. The movie has a number of funny quips and lines which is most likely what we expect of Boopathy Pandian’s movies.
The love story is centred on Balaji and the fresh face of Meghna. Meghna has a similarity to Nayantara and she may be a newbie but she definitely knows how to carry her role well. Balaji showed how comfortable he is around the camera and shows his prowess may it be an emotional scene or a comical line.
Sabesh Bobby is just as brilliant as the rest of the cast whose craft is more on comedy and has never failed to bring out laughter to his audiences. From the way he moves to how he says his lines are just hilarious.
The music of Yuvan Shankar Raja has well fitted the script. They are just what this youthful movie needs. The lyrics of Na Muthukumar is filled with energy and is lively which is what the youthful film is revolved on. Another plus to the film is cinematography of Rana who was able to put the spotlight in Tiruchy town on a much fresh perspective.
Kadhal Solla Vanthen starts off with “Nanu” Prabhu (Balaji) who enrols himself in a college for arts in Tiruchy. He meets a student in her senior year Sandhya (Meghna) and love at first sight is what happens to Prabhu. They quickly become good friends and spens a lot of time together which makes Prabhu fall for Sandhya even more.
Prabhu and his friend Bobby is loved by everyone in their college but things take a turn when Prabhu tells Sandhya of his feelings and Sandhya walks away. Nevertheless Prabhu is more than ever resolute to win the love of Sandhya.
As things lead to one thing after another, the parents of Prabhu come to know what their son is up to and makes sure that he gets his TC and leaves his college but still Prabhu is confident that he will win the heart of Sandhya and the twist of the movie comes out in the later part of the film. The youngsters will surely love this film as it is something most of them can very much relate to.
