Kattradhu Kalavu is actually be a film that is somewhat depicting a “Bonnie & Clyde” concept in Kollywood style. It may seem something common in most Hollywood films but for Indian cinema, notions such as this does not come out that often. It makes it another film out of creative ideas and innovation which makes it something to definitely look out for because of rarity. Where else could you find a love story behind a con couple?
The storyline is mainly about a couple who gets fast cash by means of shady deals to get their way and their money. This wouldn’t have been the case if it were not for the ordeal that Krishna went through when his idea was gotten hold of an influential and powerful man in their society. When he found out he was cheated, he plead for his share of his original idea but the man just won’t give it to him. He later on learned that there is no way for him to get what we he is supposed to have since they man is very powerful that he already has his people to take care of any threats if he does attempt to give one.
It is here when his big scheme starts that the only way to get what is suppose to be his is by cornering that man who cheated him off. He then sets up a plan to do this but he will need the Help and he couldn’t find anyone more ideal for the job other than Vijayalakshmi. The story behind Vijayalakshmi is a pretty girl who had no choice but to flee from home because of problems that is blamed on her. And like Krishna, she needs fast money. Because of their same goal their plan is executed by blackmailing the man who took the expense of Kirshna’s idea by telling him that if he declines paying them money, his shady deals that are videotaped which are in the couple’s hands will be handed to the media.
From there, their con career soars high until such point where in they earn loads of cash without a single sweat at all. Because of this they become more self-assured that they choose no one to be victims of their heist until they reach a certain time when they are already playing the game in a dangerous feat of deceiving a minster. This is when they are blinded by the fact that there are more big shots out there that can take them out in a snap. The climax of the film is when the minister bites into their ‘trap’ not knowing that something is awaiting them. What could this surprise be? Watch Kattradhu Kalavu to find out.
One of the main reasons why the movie is very convincing is the fact that the shady deals of the couple is very plausible although there are also points in the film where the ideas could be mind-boggling. The couple’s love story could have been better enhance if there was much effort placed on this aspect but there was definitely chemistry between the two.
Their performance was impeccable. The way they came up with the ideas on concealing outfits, altering their accent and even changing their behaviour was very original and could be one of the things the audience would be looking forward as the film moves forward; making us question “what would these two be up to next?”. Most especially with Krishna who seemed to be really good at playing the “smooth operator” of deceiving people. The rest of the cast did a great performance as well such as Santhanabharath and Sampath Kumar being there as a police officer makes an impact on the film.
