Naan Mahaan Alla

Starring: Karthi, Kajal Agarwal
Direction: Suseendran
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Production: Cloud Nine Movies

The movie Naan Mahaan Alla is under the production of Studio Green of Gnanavelraja and is being released by Cloud Nine Movies of Dhayanidhi Alagiri. It has one very appealing title because a lot of people have been drawn to its title and is said to be a movie that is made out of the inspiration of yesteryear’s film Superstar Rajnikanth.

What makes the film real odd is how it all begins with a blithe feel all ends up with action-packed scenes. All these stuff are typically what we would be expecting out of a very much commercialized Tamil Cinema.

The film all begins with Jeeva (Karthi), a young man that lives his life the way he wants. Growing up in Chennai, he has with him an emblematic character—fun and hanging out with friends. He is much loved by his father Jayaprakash (Jayaprakash) who works as a taxi driver and showers him with so much warmth. They both live simple lives but even so they manage to be happy.

In the middle of it all, Jeeva attends a wedding celebration and meets Priya (Kahal Agarwal). They then come across each other’s paths every now and then and they become conscious that they actually have a connection and propose to each other but despite everything that is happening great, an attempt to kill Jeeva shakes the peace. At a different scene, a girl is shown being taken into a car by force by a bunch of hooligans and Jeeva’s father was able to witness all these. The girl eventually is killed and the gang decides to murder Jeeva’s father for they felt that he was going to be trouble. Because of the death of the father of Jeeva, he promised to get back to the people who did it to his father and starts on a mission of finding out whose fault it was.

Throughout the movie, Karthi is seen in most of the scenes and what makes his character very appealing because he has the boy-next-door look with his suave looks and body language but his character as a revengeful man is still being justified and he is complimented by Kajal Agarwal. Jayaprakash has definitely made the table turn from being a villain in Vamsam to becoming a caring father in Naan Mahaan Alla. Soori holds the humor of the film and the rest of the cast does well in their own roles.

Sussendhran has once again proved to many that he is indeed one talented director. He is able to hold together scenes that are action packed but he can manage going through it all still giving out a cheerful feel from the movie. This makes the movie goers excited for the next film that he plans on coming out with. Also worth mentioning is the music of Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The cinematography of Madhie and the editing prowess of Kasi Viswanathan add up to the beauty of the movie. The stunts came out very realistic all thanks to Anal Arasu. The only down side to the movie is the loose pace that it has and may need to cut out some of its parts in the later part and towards the climax, the events come out as somewhat predictable but even so the movie majorly still has good points. This is one film that is worth watching.
