Neeyum Naanum

Starring: Sanjeev, Sampath, Sethna
Direction: S.V. Solairaja
Music: Sriram Vijay
Production: S.V. Solairaja

Neeyum Naanum is one risk that director Solairaja took despite the fact that he is known for making sequels in small screen. This is one movie that shows audiences things happening to children from friendship to character and solidarity.

The movie is shot in the setting of a dance competition for students and from here, the movie shows the things that children go through and how to they go about dealing with disappointment and distress brought about by different situations.

Solairaja has definitely tried his best to come up with a theme that will draw a lot of attention but the fallback is how the movie is need of more execution from the director himself. The movie came out to be hackneyed and scenes are usually what is already expected out of the events taking place.

The lead role is being played by Sanjeev of “Kulir 100 Degree” and Chetna, a new comer, is his love interest. The star studded cast could also be a reason why it came out very appealing. Included in the film are Manobala, Master Rinson, Nellai Siva, Master Sachin, Sampath Kumar and Singamuthu.

Neeyum Naanum all beings while set in the school grounds. Surya (Sanjeev) enters the scene as an aerobics instructor. The school is actually owned by a very powerful man Sampath (Sampath Kumar) who also happens to be the chairman of educational institutions. Later on Surya realizes that he is attracted to Diya (Chetna) because they have a lot of things in common. Diya happens to be a relative of Sampath and happens to be a dance teacher at the school. On the other hand, a poor boy Karthick (Rinson) gets the chance to be enrolled in the school all thanks to Surya’s Help.

Karthick may be poor but there is no denying that he is an intelligent person and receives the fury of Siddarth (Sachin) who happens to be the son of the school chairman and happens to be his classmate as well. Later on Karthik finds out that his mother is sick and needs surgery and can only happen if he has Rs five lakh. A dance contest then comes up that has a cash award of Rs 10 lakh for whoever wins and Siddarth of course messes it for Karthick.

Surya then comes along and saves Karthick by transferring him to another school. Karthi with Surya beside him faces the challenges on hand and gets prepared for the upcoming dance competition. Diya on the other hand leaves her home so she can be with Surya. The finals then come and who wins is something that you have to watch out for in the film.

The movie showcases a number of dance scenes and there is also humour added to it with the children preparing for the dance competition. Sanjeev was able to bring out a character full of coolness and suave and Chetna did well. The rest of the cast brought out their best. Sriram Vijay showed his talent with the music and the cinematography of Premshankar was well done.
