Orr Iravu will definitely give you a horror flick that is truly scary but in a more modern twist. Paranormal activity and the supernatural is something that has tickled the interest of many and for all these years a lot of studies and superstitions have been made under the sphere of these phenomenons. Orr Iravu makes the horror film interesting as the lead role tries to know the real score behind paranormal activity by the means of technology.

The film’s storyline is about a paranormal researcher who is set to know what explains the terror in a haunted mansion in Munnar. The whole movie begins at a talk show setting that talks about paranormal activity. One of the guests of the show is a man who tells his story behind his centuries old mansion in Munnar where a lot of creepy past is in the history of the place. In an effort to know what is behind all these, he gets in touch with a student based in London who specializes in studying supernatural activity. Because of the student’s eagerness and interest on the subject matter, he readily agrees to the task. The student bravely arrives in the mansion with no companion at all and only geared with paraphernalia. When got inside, he then becomes conscious that the owner has not been completely honest with him as there are details that are untold; details that could very well save his life. With a scientific approach to knowing the mysteries on hand, he learns that the spirits are very much territorial and do not like to be disturbed. During the course of his scientific research in the mansion, he finds out the ugly truth that the paranormal observers prior to him were all unsuccessful for they have died and none of them were able to leave the place. Shaken by this, he is left with no choice but to tussle against the fright that the mansion has. The question now is, will the student make his way out?

If there is one thing that makes Orr Iravu different from the rest of the horror flicks in Indian cinema is the fact that the lead character’s (in this case is the student) face is not shown throughout the film instead the audience will be watching the film as if they were in the place of the protagonist because what will be seen onscreen is what is actually the protagonist is seeing. The movie is no longer the traditional shrieks and ridiculously scary faces but a very scientific draw. Here we will see sensors, detectors, cameras and the like to see if there is any atypical movements in the place. What makes the film real creepy is the fact that it comes out as seemingly realistic that it can happen in this time and age.

Generally, the whole technical aspect of the film really did well. It did not do anything that came out as too fake such as the lighting. The camera is of course in the hands of the protagonist which makes it scary as if it is documented and real and the audience would be able to identify themselves to the character thinking what it would really feel like to be in the shoes of that very person. The music could have used some improvement on making certain scenes more enhanced but even so it was fine.

For those who are horror freaks they would be able to say that Orr Iravu was not the scary but certain points in the film will really give you the creeps. Making spectators scared is not an easy task at all especially with today’s sceptical audience. All in all Orr Iravu is one original horror film that should be watched.
