In most movie industries, love flicks always seem to grab much attention and this no different even with Kollywood movies. Not only does it draw in much audience but it also even becomes box office wonders. Under the direction of Sabapathy of VIP and Sundarapurushan, Pathinaru was whipped up as a love story that is youthful but at the same also has a touch of suspense.

Romance stories may come out so typical but thanks to Sabapathy, this movie has eluded the clichés of Tamil cinema. The script is being built for scenes in the story that is revealed in the city and the village. How love is centered on the couple along with the love and care of parents as how persevering the youth is when it comes to love have all been clearly set out well in Pathinaru.

In most of the love stories we have come across with, the parents are actually the first ones who go against a relationship but in Pathinaru something refreshing is shown which is the relationship of the couple between them and their parents.

The movie all begins with Shiva who is from Chennai and Thamizh Padam, a popular comedian who makes a change and portrays the role of an in love youth. The leading lady is played by Madhu Shalini who has a responsible father Abhishek.

Both in college, Siva (Shiva) and Indhu (Madhu Shalini) are lovers who spend most of their time together. All is well not until Indhu’s father sees them while at a mall. Being the atypical father that he is, he tells his wife of what he saw. When Indhu was confronted she denies it all and later on gets to realize that she cannot escape from telling the truth. The couple then decides to run away and get married but Indhu’s parents invite them to their home and was given a book entitled Pathinaru. In the book, Indhu reads about a young couple who is tested by fate as the young girl is forced on an arranged marriage. The father of the girl threatens to kill himself if she runs away with the one she loves. Because of the story Indhu changes her mind and decides to leave Siva, Siva then sets on a journey to find the lovers of the book and set things right to win back Indhu and how he does this is the climax of the movie.

The way Shiva portrays the role of a deeply in love young man is astonishing. He is the ideal leading man for this for he sings, is romantic and has a good sense of humor. Even in scenes where much emotion is needed he still can do it impressively. Madhu Shalini also was able to adapt to her role as she looks very comfortable as well as Abhishek who is definitely something to watch out for in the film.

The music is very well done all thanks to Yuvanshankar Raja. Sabapathy should have cut down on very long scenes and tedious dialogues otherwise, the movie is great.
