Samy is one director who has the reputation of bringing up debateable concepts and controversial, prohibited relationships. He seems to have the pleasure of seeing his audiences giving out different reactions to his work.

This is also what Sindhu Samaveli is closely themed on the works of Samy. There is a sensitive matter that is tackled in this movie and it about a girl that is torn between her husband and her father-in-law. Good thing the director has managed to keep the script in its rudimentary form and had the screenplay low key.

The theme, as sensitive as it is, is still captivating because Samy has given it a commercial feel and the cinematography was done in a much appealing manner along with the songs and also a touch of humour as well. To add up to the interesting movie are the newcomers that are in the cast. The music of Sundar C Babu matched the movie and the camera works of Utpal added more plus to the film.

The film begins with Anbu (Harish) who happens to be attending a village school where his mother teaches there while his father Veerasami (Ghajini) is in the army and is assigned in Assam. He falls in love with Sundari (Anakha) who is older than him but is in the same class as he is.

Meanwhile, his father heads home to their village after getting injured from a terrorist attack and chooses to go on a voluntary retirement. Things become worse when Anbu’s mother dies from a snake bite and from there, Anbu continues his mother’s dream which is being a teacher. He then marries Sundari with the blessings of his family and his bride’s. They have a happy marriage and after a month, Anbu had to leave for his training as a teacher. So Sundari is left home to take of her father-in-law. But things turn out unexpectedly as Sundari is strained to get into a so-called “relationship” with Veersami. How Anbu finds out about it and what happens is the climax of the movie.

Harish and Ghajini definitely did a good job on portraying their character. The different emotions that they had to show were really seen on the screen. But Anakha deserves much praises because she delivered her character naturally.

Sindhu Samaveli is generally spins around the three main lead roles. Some parts of the movie are somewhat just a little too amplified. But this could also be because of the director’s choice too but for most part of the movie, it all went out well.
