Sura is one movie that movie-goers, most especially Vijay fans will look forward to as it is Vijay’s 50th film. Under the direction of S.P. Rajamkumar, the movie is situated in a fishing village and revolves around Sura, the hero of the village who saves them from the greediness of one man. Basically the movie highlights the political goal of Vijay which is something that is made exquisitely for his fans in his celebration of the golden jubilee film.
Vijay amusingly works with S.P. Rajakumar this time who is identified for his films of the comedy genre along with Vadivelu. The three put all their ideas and hardwork together coming up with a movie that is far from boring and shallow.
Vijay plays the role of Sura, a fisherman in the coast of Tamil Nadu. Notice that the place’s name has so much to do with the political chaos of a tribal conflict in the nearby Sri Lanka. Here, Sura is born and raised and has a lot of well wishers.
Beside him is his friend (Vadivelu) also a fisherman in their place who gives the audience a good time while watching the film. The lines of these two men are very comical. To make things more interesting is when Sura cross paths with Poornima (Tamannah) who apparently is depressed of her pet dog’s passing away and wishes to end her life.
Poornima, bit by bit, falls for Sura and his kind ways. The love story between the two flourishes. But the happy ending is not here yet as a voracious and fraudulent minister shows up in the person of Samuthira Raja (Dev Gill). The man wants to own the land where Sura happens to be live along with his co-villagers. Because of Sura’s will to protect his land and people from the self-centeredness of the minister they become not the best of friends.
The baddie minister comes up with a scheme of to get rid of Sura with the assistance of his people and lets cops get him. Because of Sura’s will, he deals with all these on his own accord. As to who succeeds is something to look up to in the film’s climax.
Like the typical Vijay, he has remained full of life and always eager in his roles. The energy that this man has cannot be defied most especially when he is already on screen. Tamannah has always captured the crowd’s charm with her bubbly character and is always refreshing to watch. Vadivelu on the other hand is the darling of the crowd for his funny quips and moves and the vibe between him and Vijay is a great match. Dev Gill’s role as the antagonist is also something worth praising for giving justice to his role.
The film is made for Vijay fans and the whole cast and crew was successful in pulling it off without making Vijay come out overrated.
