When directors Raja and along with his sibling Jayam Ravi come together, they make a commercial entertainer that leaves no intervals. They have surely made Thillalangadi interesting in some of its parts. Raja has definitely made a good decision when we picked this film for a remake. The original film was a racy script and its enthralling storyline has captured the audiences in Andhra Pradesh.
Raja placed a touch of the locality and went ahead doing the film with so much zest and vigour. But sad to say the outcome fell short of thump.
The film Thillalangadi had a variety of comedy, romance, action and emotions. There is so much energy placed over the script. On the other hand, the film’s blemishes are on its prolonged scenes and its predictability. The all star cast who are ‘Jayam’ Ravi, Shaam, Tamannah, Vadivelu, Prabhu, Suhasini, Santhanam and Radharavi and the rest all have roles to play which is unlikely for other movies.
The movie is focused on Ravi (Krishna) who is an easy going youth who always had a knack for challenges and just can’t live without the thrill of things. He then meets Nisha (Tamannah) whom he falls in love with but leaves him after knowing that Krishna lied about his job. Nisha then head to Malaysia and makes a coalition with a hard-hitting cop (Shaam) who has a mission he wants to accomplish. He plans of catching a disreputable thief who happens to Ravi who has been getting away with stealing money from wealthy people and how all these happen is what the audiences have to watch out for in the climax of the film.
A youth that is heartless and cheerful at the same time is what Jayam Ravi portrayed while Krishna shows off her talent in some parts of the film. Tamannah who played the role of Nisha is just charming. Her dozens of lines make her something to look out for in the film. Their dubbing comes out real poor especially at times when they sound alien at some parts of the film.
Jackson which is played by Vadivelu brings out humour in the film while Shaam does the “kick” act again. Shaam has always played the romantic hero of Tamil movies but here he plays a much more diverse part. You should look out for the Minister played by Radharavi. He is definitely one veteran that has proved that this role is something he can do with utmost ease. The thoughtful parents of Ravi are being played by Prabhu and Suhasini.
The background score was in the works of Yuvan Shankar Raja who also missed it off in some of the songs. B Rajsekhar did the suave cinematorgraphy while L Sasikumar made sure that the editing was crisp but he still could have cut off some of the not so needed parts.
The film is average; it is neither good nor bad. It could have been more interesting if only the parts that were loosely done were placed together to make it not come out as raw.
