Veluthu Kattu is under the direction of newbie Senapathy Magan and is in the production of SA Chandrasakaran. The film suggests a lot of the typical SA Chandrasakaran films with the storyline that is time and again the same as usual. The challenge now is left in the hands of Magan as he works his way of taking in the task by making the film interesting and not so predictable for the audience.
The film shows off the casts in circumstances coming out at perturbed situations most especially at the second half of the movie. The script alone could have been more enhanced. As a whole, the melodramatic feel is what the audience are subjected to.
Veluthu Kattu is one love story that revolves around two childhood sweethearts, Kathir (Kathir) and Arukani (Arundhathi) who have made a vow to each other to tie the knot when time comes.
Time moves on and Kathir becomes lost of his direction as he turns out to be a hooligan. Even so, Kathir’s love for Arukani did not change at all. He then asks Arukani’s hand for marriage, but for obvious reasons, Arukani’s parents refused. Arukani imposed the ordeal to Kathir as a challenge. She tells Kathir to leave for Chennai and return to their place with much success doing it the honest way. After such time, Kathir comes back for Arukani’s hand with a shock. The movie is mainly focused on Kathir and Arundhati who are actually neophytes in the business. Despite this, their efforts to give justice to their characters are clearly shown in the movie. Kathir has a really fresh look while Arundhathi gives out importance to her character not until the second half of the movie.
The music of Bharani has catchy tunes and the cinematography was well done. The only downside is the fact that the script could have been enhanced but even so Veluthu Kattu is one good film to watch out of a beginner’s work.
